Maggie's Ring
What is Home?
New in Town
This Place I've Never Been
Street Corner King
St Pierre
Maggie's Ring

Maggie’s ring wasn’t hers at the beginning

First time, she saw it on the pretty finger

Of a girl that a handsome man called darling

Maggie wondered could it be the same for her

So she tried a few rings then

Hoping she would find the man

To pick the one for her

And he’d bend on just one knee

And he’d tell her they’d be free

Maggie’s ring is like a dream

Maggie’s ring is like a shining beam

Maggie’s joy is just a ring away

And she’ll carry on

All the way

Maggie’s ring started shining like a grail

She was so glad she would have her fairy tale

She felt like a princess when

She had finally found the man

But he wasn’t right for her

And he’d be yelling all day

Never hearing what she said

Maggie’s ring was like a dream

Maggie’s ring is now a fading beam

Maggie’s joy is just a ring away

But she’ll carry on

Anyway

Maggie’s ring is just too tight for her finger now

Look at her trying take it off but it won’t come off

She’ll wear it anyway

It won’t keep her from walking away

Look at Maggie’s ring

Look at her finger now

Sometimes she cries

Thinking bout the past

Isn’t she the prettiest thing

But I just don’t know how

And many people try

To tell her it won’t last

Look at her, look at her

Look at her, look at her

She’s a free woman now

But it won’t wipe the tears off her face

It won’t wipe the tears off her face

When she’s thinking about Maggie’s ring

What is Home?

What is home to you, can you tell me

What is home to you, can you tell me

What is home to me

Is it in the things I see

Or where I wish I could be

Is home the people you love or the one you’re part of

Is home just a memory

Is home the child within me

Or where the adult feels free

Is home just a comfort zone

Is it just for things already known

Now who can tell me

What is home

Is there one soul that doesn’t roam

New in Town

I was only ten when saw its skyline

Knew right there and then, I had to make it mine

I’ve always been drawn to all things that shine

I’ll own this town, I’ll own this town

Devil city I’m attracted to you

You look so pretty and I’m coming through

You’ll soon be hearing of somebody new

Coming to town, coming to town

Lights on

Dream on

Give in to the city

Come in to be free

Dizzy with places concrete crowds and sounds

Just wanted someone to show me around

But all my demons seem to have found

That I am new in town, I’m new in town

Devil city you led them to me

You beam at first then seem so gloomy

Your games are twisted, your tricks are dirty

I’m off this town, I’m off this town

Lights on

Dream on

Give in to the city

Come in to be free

I trusted fate would lead me to coolsville

It turned out I’ll end up stuck in crooksville

Tell me what is in store for me

Roaming soul in shallow dream-city

Lights on

Dream on

Give in to the city

Come in to be free

Lights on

Dream on

Give in to the city

Come in to be free

This Place I've Never Been

A few notes an old groove

Is what it takes to bring this mood

And the way it makes me feel

You know it’s like it makes me heal

And I seem to recognize

Each color when I close my eyes

Yet all the pictures that I see

Were taken long time before me

There’s a log hidden backstage

That bring them luck from its old age

It’s a foreign history

Yet the biggest part of me

And a studio called 54

Where people thrive on the dance floor

It’s a different chemistry

And again it’s taking me to this

Place I’ve never been

Or someday in a dream

You know it feels like home

oh yeah

This place I wanna go

I’ve been there long ago

Or was it me?

There’s a canyon full of laurel

Where people sing life is floral

It’s a blurry reverie

From a glitchy memory

Soul train is a long one running

The Troubadour keeps on singing

It’s a distant melody

Yet again it’s taking me to this

Place I’ve never been

Or someday in a dream

You know it feels like home

oh yeah

This place I wanna go

I’ve been there long ago

Or was it me?

And here it comes again

This feeling of belonging

To another time another place

It’s a sweet old pain

One I’ve been longing for

And I don’t want to replace

This place I’ve never been

Or someday in a dream

You know it feels like home

oh yeah

This place I wanna go

I’ve been there long ago

Or was it me?

This place I’ve never been

Or someday in a dream

You know it feels like home

oh yeah

This place I wanna go

I’ve been there long ago

Or was it me?

This place I’ve never been

Or someday in a dream

You know it feels like home

oh yeah

This place I wanna go

I’ve been there long ago

Or was it me?

Street Corner King

It’s eight o’clock I’m off the bus

Tired of the day, like the rest of us

My eyes drowning in the concrete

They reach a man, I walk off beat

Blue eyed soul, king of books

Long white hair, king of looks

Got his empire at his feet

Plastic bags, paper cup, tidy ’n neat

There’s a man on the street

And everyday we meet

He’s the most brilliant sir

Yet stuck on a street corner

Hello monsieur how do you do

I wish I could come talk to you

Those books around, what do you read

What’s in those bags, what do you need

What’s your take on the world around us

Do you care when they all make a fuss

Why am I stuck and why don’t I dare

Take a step, give a word, not just stare

There’s a man on the street

And everyday we meet

He’s the most brilliant sir

Yet stuck on a street corner

It’s eight o’clock, no bus today

I took a walk, I’m on my way

I’m gonna speak I’m gonna say

Sir you are grand, for you I pray

And the sun is shining

But the king is missing

There’s a man on the street

And everyday we meet

He’s the most brilliant sir

Yet stuck on a street corner

St Pierre

Crashing waves before this castle of mine

The breeze is carrying salt in the air and in my mind

When I think of the sweet old time

I used to run, play hide and seek

Come from the beach sand on my feet

Dripping sun on pink horizon

Our skins still warm from the laughters and the joys of dream island

Every morning we would fill

Our heads with plans for the afternoon

Why did they have to sink so soon

How can this place just forget me

It will stay strong and I will pass

How can time allow that we

Are bound to die while houses last

Now I am here behind the gate

Feeling empty and weary, I could come in but it’s too late

The waves have crushed the memories

See this child play, there by the tree?

A little girl but she is not me

How can this place just forget me

It will stay strong and I will pass

How can time allow that we

Are bound to die while houses last

What happens to childhood dreams?

Do they come back with the tide?

Have I lost them in rapid streams?

Why is the ocean so wide?

How can this place just forget me

It will stay strong and I will pass

How can time allow that we

Are bound to die while houses last

How can this place just forget me

It will stay strong and I will pass

How can time allow that we

Are bound to die while houses last

How can this place just forget me

It will stay strong and I will pass

How can time allow that we

Are bound to die while houses last
